Establishment of the Management System Certification Body (MSCB) of Sierra Leone Standards Bureau (SLSB) started in 2019 under the EU-funded West Africa Competitiveness Programme. The programme’s national component in Sierra Leone is implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Establishment of the first-ever internationally accredited Management Systems Certification Body in Sierra Leone is part of a broader UNIDO objective to develop effective and efficient National Quality Infrastructure (NQI). It also represents a landmark achievement as for the first time, Sierra Leone can certify its enterprises under the brand ‘’Certified in Sierra Leone, Accepted Globally’’. Certification services provided by the MSCB further pave the way for sustainable promotion of enterprises that inspire customer confidence.
Throughout the establishment process, UNIDO provided technical and advisory assistance to the staff of MSCB for implementation of ISO/IEC 17021:2015, which is the international standard that defines requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems.
In the forthcoming period, MSCB will continue to provide its services and objective evidence that an organization operates at the highest level of international management standards.
